About us
JCR Productions is a Dunedin-based film and theatre company founded by Jackson Rosie (Ngāi Tahu) — a writer, performer, and creative producer dedicated to bold storytelling and the development of fresh artistic voices in Aotearoa.
Grounded in the deep whakapapa and cultural richness of Ōtepoti, JCR Productions champions daring, original work that challenges audiences to think, feel, and question. We believe that stories have the power to disrupt and heal — to reveal the raw, the funny, the uncomfortable, and the beautiful truths of who we are.
Our kaupapa is simple yet ambitious: to offer opportunities for emerging artists, foster collaboration across disciplines, and create exciting new works that blur the boundaries between theatre and film. We’re committed to making space for risk-taking, experimentation, and storytelling that reflects both the darkness and the light of life in contemporary Aotearoa.
JCR Productions is a home for artists who want to push beyond the expected — to tell stories that are unfiltered, intelligent, and emotionally brave. Whether on stage or screen, our projects explore identity, memory, and the moments that make us human.
Founded in Ōtepoti, JCR Productions stands at the intersection of southern grit and creative innovation, drawing from the landscapes, people, and histories of this place to build something authentically our own.
Follow our journey as we develop a new wave of storytelling that is unapologetically local, fearless, and alive.
